Thanks for taking the time to comment and the more I look the more I tend to agree.  That and the fact that in the original, the rust streaks on the hull are more prominent have me thinking that the sepia treatment works better.
Gutted that I missed the race on the Saturday (the day before I took this one) - Would have had a lot more shots of them all.

Vignette focuses the eye where it needs to be without having to crop picture. Gives a good sense of barges in their heyday.</description>
