Messing about with the tubes again

November – Right. Crappy weather busy at work and aside from the Football I don’t think I’ve taken a photo for fun for months.
Someone on the talkphotography forums had asked a few questions about Kenko Tubes so I dragged mine out of the bag and had a play….
Nothing special but not a bad result for 10 minutes titting about. The one with the flash underneath will be interesting to play with and try to recover some of the stamen detail…..

Gerbera, with Kenko......

Morning Glory

Early Autumn Mornings just can’t be beaten, especially when at six o’clock it’s already 18 degrees with a promise of record breaking sunshine. The heat creating a lovely ground hugging mist, coating everything in tiny droplets of water.

This cobweb, was captured with a Canon 50mm f1.8 and 30mm of Kenko Macro extension tubes.

Fuck off and leave me alone……

In keeping with the animal theme, Daisy, the long suffering Shih Tzu is now feeling every day of her pregnancy. Not only is she fatter than a Mars Bar Munching salad dodger, she’s a bit miserable with it.

Only a few more days to go and there’ll be plenty more to keep her occupied than a Camera in the face.

A Colourful end to the week.

Odd week, odd week ending. Mojo departed around Wednesday and never re-appeared the dirty stop-out, so finding myself with an hour or so to spare this afternoon was a bit of a problem. Undaunted by the total lack of inspiration I ended up attaching the Kenko tubes to the Nifty Fifty and having a wander around the house.
Macro photography is rather more difficult than you would expect ( especially if you look at some of the excellent collections on www.lightstalking.com) and I had a lot of dull, slightly out of focus shots in the trash to show for my lacklustre clicking.
Colourful

This little fella that we brought back from Mallorca with us last year was quite pleasing to look at though, partly due to the vibrant colours, and partly those sad eyes. Still need a bit more practise with these but I did know before I started that the tripos would be the best approach (was just too lazy to get it out.
Very little post processing applied to this except for a bit of sharpening.

This month has been a bit of a non-starter photographically speaking. Aside from the fun I had testing the extension tubes it’s been work work work. One of the good things to come out of the extension tube experiments was the rediscovery of the Nifty Fifty which hasn’t had much use at all (I even thought about selling it!),
This was one of a random set I took (most of them were of the dogs) which I quite liked.
The lighting for this one was a veritable mixture, with natural daylight from the right and above, a laptop screen in front of my long suffering model and bounced flash with a diffuser from the 430EX in manual on it’s lowest setting. Aperture was set at f2.5 (@ f1.8 the DOF was a little too shallow), with a shutter speed of 1/25.
