And the 52 continues, not actually nailed a shot to submit yet, but have a few ideas and managed a couple of conceptual shots very quickly yesterday. to avoid the standard macro shot of the innards of an old PC I think I’ll need a couple of quick photoshop tutorials this week. Concept shots so far are as below with the actual submissions and selected best endeavours will be posted later this week.
This is NOT a finished shot, just a concept tester at the moment to see if my shocking Photoshop skills would be up to a bit of an excercise. This would be Very difficult to get right in camera. Like I said, it’s an idea, not finished and I know that you can see the joins and the blending is rubbish (that’ll be cos I’ve not finished it…..)
Taking photos of bottles is a lot harder than I anticipated. Had an image in mind and never got anywhere near to achieving it with just one off camera flash. Although quite pleased with this one, I think that preparation is essential. I will need to ensure that I set this up properly next time. Could do with a way of modifying the flash for a stripbox type spread of light and a couple of whiteboards around the bottles for fill (Instead of propping the Mac up next to them as I did for this shot).
After seeing something similar recently I thought I’d have a go at trying to capture the ignition point of a disposable plastic lighter.
Wasn’t as easy as I thought though.
These were the best of over 100 shots, all taken handheld @ 1/3200, ISO 800 and F2,8
Dug out an old image and had a play. Whilst I don’t generally ‘do’ HDR, I took this shot bracketed and had 3 RAW files 2 stops apart. Added another 2 for -1 and +1 in lightroom then ran them through Photomatix to see if I could recover the cloudy sky yet still keep some detail in the houses.
Not really sure what else I did to it other than a little cross processing and a vignette but was quite pleased with the result.
Messing about in the garden over the weekend unearthed a few critters. Ideally I would have had the Kenco’s on, with an off camera flash. Instead I had to go with what I had to hand and use the iPhone. Turned out better than expected. Now, pass the salt please.
Turkish Night at the Kaan Apartments in Marmaris, June 2012. Bozo the bonkers barman put on a between dancing juggling show, which quickly degenerated int a Health and Safety Free zone with burning serviettes and mouth fulls of (I hope) Vodka or Jack Daniels.
Out in the garden at the weekend I ended up leaving my sandals laying about while I soaked up a few rays. Bit of a daft idea really as when I went to put them on again they were rather warm and scalded the soles of my feet.
First time the 70-200 has been attached to the camera for ages – forgot what a narrow DOF you get with it.
