Foggy Afternoon at the seaside

IMG_2311 (1)OK, so it’s not the best photo I’ve ever taken technically, it was after all grabbed during a brisk walk along the seafront at Southend on Sea, and a damp freezing fog had just started rolling in from the water on the only camera I had available at the time, the trusty iphone 6. Now we all know that in low light, it’s not the best you’re going to see, but it was in reality pretty bright out. Nevertheless, the fog has reduced the contrast far better than I could have done in post production, giving the image a somewhat surreal, almost watercolour like effect. I’d promised myself that only my best images would get uploaded here (unlike my Flickr account which has a lot of painful reminders of amateur errors) but there’s just something about this one that I keep coming back to. Despite it’s appearance, I can assure you this one is straight out of the phone, no editing whatsoever.

Week 17 – Winter

Week 17 - Winter

It wasn’t actually that wintery this week, but work was manic and I knew I wouldn’t have time to get out and about. Grabbed a couple of chilly shots with the iphone, but wanted something more and something a little different to the icy, snowy shots. Dug some gloves out of the cupboard and placed them on the radiator for a quick grab fully intending to stage something properly later (the plan was to have these, snowboots and a puddle on the floor) but as is more often the case, I never actually got round to finishing it. Still at least I never missed a week in actually taking the shots. Just never added any to the group.

Week - 17 Winter

Spring sunshine by the pond…….

Despite being cold enough to freeze the tits off a brass monkey (which has reminded me I need to look up the origin of that saying) the sun was shining by the pond at the shooting ground a couple of weeks ago. Was muddier than a changing room floor at a Sunday League football pitch but the sunlight, filtering through the trees made it all worthwhile (That and being able to shoot the living daylights out of plenty of clays).

Alpine Morning

Alpine Morning

Taken in France earlier this week. Unfortunately this shot doesn’t do it full justice. Shame I wasn’t brave enough to take the camera up with me the previous day as there were perfect blue skies. Weather wise it was around -30 Centigrade up there and visibility was worsening as the cloud dropped and snow flurries closed in
